ESG Strategy
Operating our business in a way that cares for the environment and people has never been more important than it is today.
Our ‘Together for the Future’ strategy represents a decisive moment in our environmental, social and governance (ESG) journey as a supplier of facades and timber into the construction supply chain. It marks the beginning of a roadmap to becoming a sustainable business fit for the future by setting out our ambitions for the next decade.
To guide us we are working to three strategic themes: the planet, our people and our partners, underpinned by our approach to Governance - doing business the right way.
The Planet
Our overall aim is to be a business operating in balance with the planet. We will do this by decarbonising our business, managing our resource use and helping to restore balance in nature. We aim to be carbon net zero in our own operations (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2030. We are working to eliminate all avoidable waste and reduce our resource use, in particular single use plastics. We will work with our partners to understand and tackle our Scope 3 emissions, products and distribution and develop plans to reach carbon net zero in our own operations of our manufacturing business Vobster Architectural.
As we work hard to minimise our negative impact on the planet, we will also give back through biodiversity and other environmental projects to make positive change and invest in a more sustainable future.
Our People
Our overall aim is to be a diverse and inclusive business – creating opportunity, valuing differences, operating with equity and helping people and communities thrive. We will do this through our focus on health and safety, ensuring that safety first is a way of life at Taylor Maxwell. We are developing a wellbeing programme and constantly aim for ‘excellent’ levels of staff engagement.
To build a culture of inclusion we know we require diverse perspectives, from the frontline to the boardroom. We will embrace and involve all people irrespective of race, gender, ability and experiences to build a diverse and equal workforce that is representative of local communities. We will develop and implement a learning, development and talent succession plan – and create opportunities for people, in particular young people, in the communities in which we work. We will empower our employees to make a difference by giving back to communities and the planet.
Our Partners
Our overall aim is to be a brilliant and trusted partner – delivering outstanding service, establishing common goals and creating long term partnerships to drive environmental and social change.
To be a brilliant partner in the journey to net zero we will practice responsible procurement, source products to face into the low carbon economy and build our expertise to collaborate across the supply chain.
We are committed to the procurement of FSC and PEFC timber and zero modern slavery in our supply chains.
Governance
Good governance is not only crucial for our financial performance and relationship with all our partners, it is also important for society and the environment and will help us deliver on these priorities.
