Introduction

Jesmond Three Sixty is a mixed-scheme regeneration project, aptly named as it is an all-inclusive development based on the ‘three sixty’ concept of being in the centre of Newcastle and surrounded entirely by thriving city life.

The project was designed by GT3 Architects and developed for Jomast Developments. Comprised of luxury residential apartments, leisure facilities, retail units and commercial office space, the complex has been designed to provide inhabitants with a unique, all-inclusive urban lifestyle. The development is a landmark building with striking architecture and fantastic views.

Jesmond is a trendy green suburb, rising in popularity amongst affluent students and young professionals as a place to live. The area is fast becoming one of the most culturally vibrant areas in Newcastle and the Jesmond Three Sixty project is rapidly being redeveloped to keep pace with its surroundings.

The residential building is extremely well located, with Jesmond Metro station and local bus services right on the doorstep, whilst Newcastle City Centre hotspots such as Eldon Square and Grey Street are within walking distance. The Jesmond Three Sixty development is already a popular leisure destination in its own right, home to everything from bars and live music venues to characterful independent pubs and reputable Indian restaurants. The new project will introduce three more bespoke units such as cafes and restaurants, all with outdoor seating areas, which aim to add a cosmopolitan feel to the development.

Phase 1 of the scheme is now complete with the transformation of the dated Scottish Life office block which was originally constructed in the 1970’s. The multi-million pound scheme set out to revamp the existing building and turn it into luxury flats, shops and new office space. The renovation project involved giving the former building an entirely new facade system to update the appearance as well as the performance of the original building, constructed over 50 years ago.

A Pressed Plank Secret Fix (PPSF) system in a polyester powder coated (PPC) finish was chosen for the project and Taylor Maxwell’s Anvil Metal Cladding System was specified and supplied as the facade solution. The engineered system allows for a wide range of plank faces, lengths and joint details. Anvil Metal Cladding is a facade system that is available in over 180 polyester powder coated (PPC) RAL colours, as well as a range of anodised and anodic-look PPC finishes. The architect chose five different powder coated RAL colours for the aluminium cladding panels to create a striking bespoke linear design.
